On top of our list of the best cheap cloud storage service is pCloud.  It only costs $4.99 per month for 500 GB worth of cloud storage. While they have multiple paid plans, we have to consider the monthly option as this will be the point of comparison for all of the best cheap cloud storage that will be discussed.

What’s best about pCloud is that it does not take up space on your hard disk drive whether you are or you aren’t the owner of the folder. This means that if someone is a pCloud cloud storage subscriber and shares a folder with you, you don’t have to worry about your low local disk space. The pCloud shared folder actually works like an extension of the Hard Disk Drive of the owner of the folder.

If you think of it, pCloud is also the best cheap cloud storage in terms of file management. If you are still not aware about this, then let me tell you something. It is one of the very few affordable cloud storage providers that have a search and filter feature. If you want to save some time looking for a specific file or folder in your cloud storage, then just type the exact or partial name of that file or folder in the search box at the top of the pCloud web or mobile interface. I assure you, the thing you are looking for will appear in an instant. With pCloud you can also filter files by the type of format. This means that file types can be grouped so that retrieving files becomes easier on your part.

Best Cheap Cloud Storage - pCloud security

Aside from that, what’s remarkable about pCloud is its security features. Through pCloud Crypto, you can actually request for an additional layer of security by protecting your files and folders through client-side encryption. This means that you are the only one who has access to such files and folders you want to encrypt. Not even pCloud can access it. This makes pCloud entirely unhackable.

If you look at the pricing structure closely, you will see that it actually just costs around €2.50 per 500 GB. You might be wondering why it only ranked 2nd when it is actually a cheaper alternative in the long-run as compared to pCloud. This is mainly because we are comparing the minimum price for the paid plan of each service rather than computing for the price per 500 GB storage.

Best Cheap Cloud Storage - IceDrive

What’s interesting about Icedrive is that it actually has a virtual drive feature. This means that you can combine your physical hard disk drive with the cloud storage platform on your native operating system. The advanced desktop software of IceDrive allows you to operate and maneuver your files and folders just like having a USB flash drive or an external hard disk drive. All functionalities are enabled just like on how you usually operate with the operating system of your computer. You just need to click the Icedrive app directly and all the files should be ready to go.

You don’t even need to sync your files at all. Icedrive has its own intelligent cache control system. As soon as you install the app, the files should be already viewable and accessible. This means that there is no downtime in the synchronization of files and folders. Everything happens in real-time. Because of this feature, lightning speed file transfer is deemed to be very possible. If security is a concern, then you don’t need to worry as you are using the right system. It actually uses Twofish encryption system that has never been hacked since the security system’s inception.

Third on the list of the best cheap cloud storage is Sync.com. Don’t act surprised if it only landed at the third spot even though it is the most affordable option in the long-run among the 5 most affordable cloud storage provider in this list. This is because even if there is a paid plan for this cloud storage service provider amounting to $60 per year, it only guarantees you 200 GB amount of cloud storage. This means it offers a higher price in the short-run than other best cheap cloud storage providers which provides 500 GB storage for that kind of price.

However, if you choose the Pro Solo Basic paid plan of Sync.com for $8 per month, you get 2,000 GB worth of cloud storage. While it may seem more expensive option in the short-run, it is for a fact one of the cheapest options in the long-run. With the Pro Solo Basic paid plan, you can actually avail of their proprietary system of retrieving deleted files up to a maximum of 180 days. This means that if you have accidentally deleted a file, you have the capacity to undo it as long as it is confined to the said recovery period. While we may be more familiar with Dropbox as a cloud storage service provider, we definitely can’t say that it is the most affordable option as we have already mentioned 4 best cheap cloud storage providers in this article. As of this moment, Dropbox offers 2,000 GB worth of cloud storage for around €11.99 per month. This translates to $13.34 per month to subscribe to their paid service.

For Basic and Plus accounts, you can retrieve deleted files up to a maximum of 30 days. So be sure to restore deleted files before 30 days have lapsed. Otherwise, it is gone forever in the wind. Dropbox may be one of the best cloud storage providers that can offer price flexibility but it isn’t the best in terms of privacy and security.  If you are familiar with Dropbox data breach in 2012, then I’m sure that you will be afraid of using this cloud storage service for confidential files. There is no client-side encryption function available and this is the very reason why you shouldn’t store valuable data on Dropbox.

The iCloud Drive is one of the best cheap cloud storage systems that are available and deemed reliable by the computer data storage industry this 2020. As a matter of fact, we can definitely say that subscribing to the services of iCloud Drive brings a lot of value for your money. For as low as $9.99 per month, you can now actually avail of 2000 GB worth of cloud storage space from this particular best cloud storage service provider.

Aside from that, if you just want to test the low-cost cloud storage system first, you can avail of the 5 GB cloud storage space absolutely for free. The free subscription plan doesn’t expire so you literally don’t have to worry about anything. You don’t have to pay for anything if you only need 5 GB worth of cloud storage space for personal consumption. Besides, that is actually enough if you want to store only the most important files and documents such as Word documents, Excel sheets, PowerPoint presentations and PDF files to start with. Of course, you can also add photos to the list of files to save in the affordable cloud storage system.

If you really need to store videos in the cloud storage system of iCloud, then I suggest that you avail of the 200 GB subscription plan by paying $2.99 monthly to access iCloud Drive easily. You will never regret doing so as iCloud Drive is one of the cheapest cloud storage services you will ever see.  On top of that, if you only 50 GB worth of cloud storage space, then you can just pay $0.99 monthly to be able to use this low-priced cloud storage service efficiently and effectively.

Best Cheap Cloud Storage - iCloud Drive

The iCloud drive implements a 128-bit AES encryption technology during data transmission as well as when data is at rest in the servers and data centers. It is supposed to protect all your data against various cyber-attacks such as hacking and malware intrusion. However, since Apple Inc. holds your encryption key and is stored in their servers, you are not 100% protected unlike in other best cheap cloud storage providers that implement zero-knowledge encryption functionality. It is one of the things that you should consider when subscribing to the services of various inexpensive cloud storage providers.

While iCloud Drive may have weaker security than the best cloud storage providers who manage to get on top of the list of the cheapest cloud storage for 2020, it still ranks well in terms of affordability. As a matter of fact, it created a way in order to compensate for the aforementioned vulnerability. The iCloud Drive has a Two-Factor Authentication capability.

You might say that there are more cloud storage service providers that offer better service than iCloud Drive in the process. It is partly true since it may have vulnerabilities in security as well as deficiencies in terms of file-sharing and file versioning. But that is not always the case. If you think that way, then take into consideration the pricing strategy of one of the best cheap cloud storage providers is offering.

  • Excellent security & client-side encryption
  • Well made sync client
  • Useful mobile application
  • Allows FTP connection

Cons

  • Slightly expensive
  • Slow speeds at peak hours
  • Limited support options

After careful observation and bloody deliberations, we have come to the conclusion that the Mega Cloud should be part of the list of the best cheap cloud storage providers for 2020. While initial computation suggests that it is slightly expensive in terms of the subscription price, we have come into deliberation that it is not the entirety of the case. Mega Cloud is actually cost-efficient when we talk about the features that the best cheap cloud storage system can offer. Of course, the best cloud storage system will sound expensive when Mega Cloud is compared to pCloud, Sync.com, and even Icedrive as the three competitors have a friendlier pricing option.

However, when we compared Mega Cloud to at least 30 cloud storage systems that exist in the industry today, we can see and we can honestly say that Mega Cloud is one of the cheapest cloud storage service providers that you can get your hands on easily. For as low as €4.99 per month, you can get as much as 400 GB worth of cloud storage space when you subscribe to the services of Mega Cloud. The only thing that might eventually concern you is the monthly bandwidth limit set by the cloud storage service provider.

But there is no really an issue with the bandwidth limitation unless of course you are frequently downloading and uploading files simultaneously. For the 400 GB subscription plan of Mega Cloud, it has a 1 TB monthly bandwidth limit attached to it. Judging by the looks of it, you will not be able to reach the 1 TB monthly bandwidth limit especially if you are just dealing with photos and important documents. It is only possible to reach that limit if you are frequently uploading and downloading videos.

Aside from the Lite subscription plan which allows you to use 400 GB cloud storage space, you can also avail of Pro I subscription plan of Mega Cloud that gives you access to 2000 GB worth of cloud storage space. The said subscription plan only costs €9.99 per month which is a good deal already. What is exciting about this best cheap cloud storage service provider is that it gives you 2 months of free use if you avail of the yearly subscription instead.

Best Cheap Cloud Storage - Mega Cloud

On top of all of that, Mega Cloud offers 15 GB of lifetime free plan in order for a prospective user of the cheap cloud storage service provider enough time and chance to fully test the features of the cloud storage system. Sharing files to other people is also easy with Mega Cloud. You integrate an expiry date on the link and set a password for it. This affordable cloud storage provider also has an excellent security feature as it uses a client-side encryption system in combination with AES encryption technology. It also embraces the concept of a zero-knowledge encryption system.

  • Great organisation of your files

Cons

  • Limited free storage
  • Quite expensive

At first glance, you can say that Tresorit is quite expensive when compared to other best cheap cloud storage providers that have been included in the list. It is partially true. No question about that. However, what you actually failed to consider is that the subscription price significantly gets lower as the amount of cloud storage space being availed gets higher. In order to prove this point, let me give you some actual data about this particular cloud storage service.

If you avail of the premium subscription plan of Tresorit, it will cost you €8.33 every month for 200 GB worth of cloud storage space. If you try to compare that data to the pricing options of various low-cost cloud storage service providers, then you will immediately think that Tresorit is very expensive. Logic will dictate us that if you want to have 2000 GB worth of cloud storage space, you might need €83.33 to get that. But that is not true. That is one of the most ridiculous things to hear considering that there is strong competition between various cloud storage systems.

You don’t need to spend 10 times more money in order to get 2000 GB instead of only 200 GB worth of cloud storage space. As a matter of fact, it will only cost you €20 per month to have access to 2000 GB cloud storage space from this particular low-priced cloud storage provider. Having a deeper perspective on the pricing system of Tresorit, you can then conclude that it is not as expensive as it could actually be.

Best Cheap Cloud Storage - Tresorit

Tresorit is also performing efficiently and effectively in terms of the sharing of files with other people. As a matter of fact, there are lots of customization options with regards to the shared link you created with the Tresorit cloud storage system. You can set a password as well as an expiration date to the shared link created with this cost-efficient cloud storage service. You can also set a download limit for the shared link between 1 up to 1,000 successful downloads.

The file versioning system of this inexpensive cloud storage system also works perfectly. For the premium subscription plan, you can get as much as 10 different file versions of a particular file or document. You can also recover and retrieve deleted files for 90 days when you availed of the premium subscription plan of Tresorit. The good thing about Tresorit is that the file versioning system, as well as the length of file recovery, is set to unlimited if you upgrade to the solo subscription plan instead.

The maximum file size you can upload to Tresorit depends on the subscription plan you availed. For the premium subscription plan, you can upload a maximum file size of 5 GB. For the solo subscription plan, you can upload a maximum file size of 10 GB.

Google Drive is one of the best cheap cloud storage service providers in the computer data storage industry as it offers the concept of affordability. It may not seem obvious at first when you look at the pricing structure of this particular best cloud storage provider. Some people judge the affordability of a cloud storage system right away just by looking at the first subscription plan on top of the list. In most cases, people really don’t mind all of the subscription plan details.

If you look at the first subscription plan, you will see that it offers people to use Google Drive’s cloud storage service platform with 100 GB worth of cloud storage space if you pay €1.99 every month. Since most people gauge the affordability of a cloud storage service provider based on the amount of cloud storage space they are getting, they can actually miss the point of the pricing structure.

At first, getting 100 GB worth of space from a reliable low-cost cloud storage service provider might seem very low. But if you put it into context, the cloud storage service is actually very inexpensive since you only need to pay a meager amount of money to be able to use the platform.

The subscription plan earlier mentioned is actually designed to cater to the needs of potential clients and potential users who are willing to pay a very small amount of money to use the cloud storage service. You will never find this in other best cheap cloud storage service providers because most of them have a minimum cloud storage space between 500 GB to 2 GB that is priced with a higher fee. This is very important to note since there is no real reason to get 1,000 GB worth of cloud storage space or avail of a 2000 GB worth of cloud storage space if you really don’t need it. You will not be able to maximize the usage of such cloud storage service.

Best Cheap Cloud Storage - Google Drive

Moreover, if you really need 2000 GB cloud storage space for safely storing your files without being afraid of being susceptible to cyber threats and computer hard disk malfunction, then you can avail of Google Drive’s 2 TB subscription plan for only €9.99 per month. The pricing structure is quite competitive when compared to other companies and platforms in the list of cheapest cloud storage services for 2020.

On top of all of these things, you must also be aware the Google Drive offers a lifetime free account with 15 GB worth of cloud storage space for all people regardless of your geographical location. However, you should also take note that the low-priced cloud storage provider does not offer one-time payment subscription plans or what is commonly called lifetime cloud storage plans.

In terms of data privacy compliances, Google Drive actually passed with flying colours. As a matter of fact, this best cheap cloud storage service provider has compliances coming from the GDPR, HIPAA as well as in PIPEDA. It also uses the SSL type of encryption technology during data transmission. Moreover, Google Drive currently uses the 128-bit AES encryption technology to make sure that your files are completely secured in their data centres. This inexpensive cloud storage system also has a good file versioning system. You can keep various versions of files for a maximum of 30 days. You should take note, however. That it can be shortened if you reached the maximum number of file versions which in this case is 100.

• Limited sharing options
  • No client-side encryption
  • Can't "Sync any folder"
  • Low max file size

OneDrive is also one of the cheapest cloud storage services we can ever think of that exist in the computer data storage industry as of today. For only $1.99 per month, you can avail of the regular cloud storage services OneDrive efficiently and effectively with a maximum amount of 100 GB worth of cloud storage space. This pricing system alone can beat most of the competitors of OneDrive in the cloud storage industry. There are only a handful of best cheap cloud storage service providers on this particular list that could match the affordability of OneDrive. The closest competitor with almost the same price structure for the 100 GB worth of cloud storage space is Google Drive

If you think that having 100 GB cloud storage space is very low for your requirements, then you can easily switch to the 1000 GB subscription plan of OneDrive for only $6.99 per month. It is really affordable when compared to other cloud storage service providers we have reviewed on this website. Aside from that, the subscription plan mentioned above comes with a Microsoft Office 365 for Personal Use software which you can install to your computer.

The thing that is really shocking is that you can technically avail of 6000 GB worth of cloud storage space with OneDrive for a very small fee of only $9.99 per month. Other low-cost cloud storage service providers can get outraged of this revolutionary subscription package. You might also not believe me with this particular revelation. However, I must tell you that it is indeed quite possible. But first, let me clarify things up for you.

For the subscription plan amounting to $9.99 per month, you still get 1000 GB worth of cloud storage space for each user. But you must take note that the subscription plan can be used by 6 users with 1000 GB worth of cloud storage space for each of the users. So technically speaking, if you combine the cloud storage space of all of the 6 users, it amounts to 6 TB worth of cloud storage space.

Best Cheap Cloud Storage - OneDrive

This is a very ideal low-priced cloud storage service provider if you have a group of friends who also wants to have access to a reliable cloud storage system. You should also take note that the subscription package includes a Microsoft Office 365 for Home Use software which you can install to your computer.

If you just want to test this particular cloud storage system then there’s nothing to worry as OneDrive offers a lifetime free account with 5 GB worth of cloud storage space. This might be very small when compared to the free accounts being offered by competitors but it is a good place to start.

In terms of data security, OneDrive can be considered to be one of the best in the cloud storage industry. This is because the company is currently using the 256-bit key AES encryption system in the service provider’s servers and data centers. They also have compliances coming from HIPAA and the GDPR. This particular cheap cloud storage service provider also allows users to activate a Two-Factor Authentication system through SMS. While you can store unlimited file versions with OneDrive, it is still not absolute as file versions that are previously deleted or replaced can only be stored for a limited time of 30 days.

Cons

  • Very limited free plan
  • On the expensive side
  • No sync folder for desktop
  • No client-side encryption
  • No two-factor authentication
  • No Android app

After careful consideration of all of the cloud storage platforms we have reviewed on this website, we have actually decided to include JumpShare on the list. For only $9.99 per month, you can get as much as 1000 GB worth of cloud storage space. However, unlike other best cheap cloud storage service providers in this list with the same price range, there are more limitations attached to the services being offered by JumpShare.

In this particular subscription plan, for example, there is a file size limit of 20 GB when uploading files to the cloud. On top of that, file versioning and data recovery are limited to only 30 days. Another thing to take note is that the subscription plan has a bandwidth limit of 200 GB per month. If you want to remove these restrictions, then you must upgrade to the Business subscription plan for $15.00 per month with an equivalent cloud storage space of 2000 GB.
