Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans 2023

Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans

Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans

Cloud storages are ever more popular, that’s a fact. Their popularity can be attributed to the fact that using cloud storage increases your productivity, makes your life easier and allows you to store your files in a secure manner. As the demand for cloud storages increases so does the amount of available cloud storage services. These services then search for various ways to differentiate from other cloud storage providers on the market. One recent trend that came up is the offer of lifetime cloud storage space for a one-time payment instead of the monthly/yearly payments. It’s an interesting concept but one that must certainly be taken with a bit of caution. The best lifetime cloud storage plans are offered by reliable and quality cloud service providers and we’ll explore them together down below.

Cloud Storage Future

Cloud storage has over the years become increasingly popular. Not just for private usage but also within enterprises. Research conducted by Eurostat shows that more and more enterprises use the cloud computing services for various purposes such as storage of files, email and office software.

Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans stats

According to Gartner.com, the worldwide public cloud revenue will grow by 17,3% in 2019 when compared to 2018. That number will go from $175.8 billion in 2018 to $206.2 billion in 2019. In 2021 that number will reach $278.3 billion which is almost double the number of 2017.

Public cloud storage is without a doubt on the rise and it doesn’t seem like the trend will stop due to various advantages that it offers.

With the progress of technology, we’re expected to see a growing number of cloud service providers with larger capacities. Over the past 5 years, the cloud storage providers offer certainly increased by at least 30%. Various public cloud storage providers such as Dropbox, pCloud and Sync.com increased their previous storage capacities from 1000 GB to 2000 GB or 3000 GB. This is certainly a consequence of the increased need for larger storage. As images and videos increase in quality due to technology advancements so do the file sizes. A one minute of 1080p at 30 frames per second video requires 130 MB, a 4K video at the same frame rate would require a 375 MB. When we convert that to a few hours of videos it certainly stacks up.

Now, this does not mean that the prices remain the same. In fact, with the recent increase of storage at Dropbox the prices for their plans rose up as well which lead to a number of furious Dropbox users leaving their service for a better alternative.

The point being here that if you’re planning to get lifetime cloud storage you can certainly expect that there will be larger storage capacities 10 years down the line but it’s also very probable that they will be more expensive.

Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans Factors

Important Factors

Lifetime cloud storage is definitely a newish trend. Perhaps you’ve never heard that it even exists, perhaps are still debating whether it’s worth the investment or perhaps you’re just searching for various cloud storages that offer such plans. It doesn’t matter at what stage you are, it’s important to check various factors with each cloud storage that offers such plans to prevent getting yourself into an undesirable situation.

Let’s say I am looking for a cloud storage that will provide me with lifetime plans. That is, of course, the first thing I will check, does it offer lifetime plans for a single payment instead of monthly/yearly payments? If the answer is yes I will proceed with checking all the other features the cloud storage offers. What good is a lifetime cloud storage if it’s absolutely useless and untrustworthy? That’s like walking into a shoe store, buying yourself a nice pair of rubber boots only to find out later they’re leaking in water. There’s nothing worse than a buyer’s remorse. Of course, you can go back and return the shoes but not the same might be possible with a cloud storage. Some offer a return-money guarantee and some don’t.

Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans Servers

Infrastructure & Development

The first thing you should check is whether the cloud storage in question has an in-house built infrastructure or they are simply utilizing a bought system. Some cloud storages utilize a bought script such as BeDrive that costs a total of 39$. Then they use it in combination with their own or rented servers and that’s that. A cloud storage like that is not going to evolve with time as they most probably lack the technical knowledge and personnel to do so. Quality in-house infrastructure and software are important in the long run. Bugs can get fixed, new features are deployed whenever needed and the cloud service has complete control over their future development.

Stability

When buying a lifetime plan with a cloud storage you’re committing yourself to use that service for at least a few years. Depending on the initial investment, you will be able to choose another cloud storage after a few years if you’re not satisfied with your choice without losing any money in the process. And yet you should search for a cloud storage that is stable and has been on the market for a while. I am not saying that the new cloud storages don’t provide a quality service because it’s certainly possible but you need to be sure that your investment won’t go into nothing after 6 months.

Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans Security

Security & Privacy

A cornerstone of a great cloud storage is ensured security & privacy. The first is achieved with secure server data centres that include disaster recovery (multiple copies of your files on various locations). Your files must also be encrypted while on transit and at rest. Client-side encryption is taking it one step further by ensuring that only you and nobody else has access to your files.

Privacy is also a big topic. It depends on the location of cloud storage servers (privacy laws apply here) and the privacy system put in place. Is the cloud storage GDPR compliant? What other compliances has it gained? Does it provide zero-knowledge privacy? Does it use your information for advertising purposes? Does it sell your data to 3rd parties? All of these questions are extremely important, not just in the long run…

Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans Prices

Prices

Everyone knows the standard saying: “If it’s too good to be true, it probably ain’t.” The same applies to cloud storage. If a new cloud storage pops up with rented servers and a bought software offering 2000 GB of lifetime storage for $30 you should skip that storage in a heartbeat. No amount of magic can make that storage profitable and it will go underground sooner rather than later.

Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans Support

Support

When making an investment such as this one you need to be sure that there are people on the other side of the line ready if something goes wrong. Maybe you don’t like the service and want a refund, maybe you need help with client installation, maybe the speeds are weirdly low – No matter what it is there needs to be someone there willing to help you in a timely manner.

Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans

All of the features and important factors listed above have been taken into account after extensive research to spare you some time when crafting this list of best lifetime cloud storage plans.

Below I am going to list all the current cloud storage services on the market that offer lifetime plans. There’s not many of them so please read the descriptions as well as I don’t believe you should opt-in for a lifetime commitment with some of these.

pCloud is a Swiss cloud storage with their servers based in the U.S. It has been on the market for a number of years and can attribute their success to their secure client-side encryption combined with all the various features I would expect from a cloud storage. It enables me to work efficiently and securely. It has 10.000.000+ users and is the first cloud storage that introduced lifetime plans. In case something goes wrong their support is always there for you via email or through social media. They obviously have an in-house system that they develop regularly and release updates and improvements to their features, all of which we pointed out in our pCloud review.

pCloud definitely picked up my interest when they introduced the lifetime plans. I have been using their service for a couple of years now and it’s worked great so far. They also offer a 10 days money-back guarantee. If you’re interested in the lifetime plans they offer, feel free to check them here:

Icedrive is a cloud storage based in the UK. It offers both the client-side encryption and is GDPR compliant. Their lifetime plans are quite interesting since they go up to 5 TB in cloud storage. It’s the new kid on the block but it offers an in-house built infrastructure with new features coming out every month. After conducting the Icedrive review and using it for months, my guts tell me Icedrive is going ways and is a good investment. They also offer a 14-day money-back guarantee so you can always reverse your choice if something is not to your liking. Check out their lifetime plans here:

Internxt, a company based in Valencia, Spain, officially set out back in 2020 to create a platform for their users where their right to privacy & security of files will be respected by technical design as well as policies that further enable that.

They’re yet to add some of the features we deem important such as the file versioning system, further synchronisation features and advanced sharing settings. And yet, they have the right mindset with user privacy and security at the forefront of their product. Combined with the lifetime plans, they may be worth checking out.

ThunderDrive is a new cloud storage on the market that makes use of the BeDrive script (that’s sold for 39$). They also advertise having a 30-day refund. Many customers report that when they asked for it, ThunderDrive simply refuses to refund, coming up with excuses. They also offer their lifetime plans for ridiculously low prices on various partner sites. With these prices, it’s certainly not possible to stay afloat as a company which makes me think they’re only in it to make some quick money and disappear. We’ve had a look at this service and we weren’t impressed, check the full ThunderDrive review for details.

Conclusion

With lifetime plans becoming more and more popular one must keep an eye to not fall into traps like ThunderDrive. Apart from that, I believe they’re a great investment and save us a lot of money in the long run. You will be safe if you go with any of the recommendations I mentioned above. I tested them all myself and use most of them on a daily basis.

  1. Hello, and thanks for the great article. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday, I’ve been looking at lifetime plans for storage.
I did notice that your article is entitled “Best Lifetime Cloud Storage Plans 2022” but all of the comments are from 2019.
I assume there has been a lot of changes in the past 3 years considering the industry– do you have any updated information/opinions on these (or other new companies’) products?

    Cheers

    1. Hey, we constantly update this article and the information presented above is in line with our current views. There hasn’t been any new cloud storage providers that we would want to point out that provide lifetime plans. It does seem Internxt will be providing some in December as part of a special deal but that’s all.

  2. Thanks for the time you put into this article. I personally wouldn’t trust any company that is making complaints about what people are storing. You are buying the space, they should not be reviewing the material. If that were the case, Google would be a good deal. If I wanted to write a book I would not want someone reading it before hand. And if I have secure documents, I would not store them on a storage cloud where people read my documents. There is always the option of encrypting materials that are truly private, but it should not be necessary. From what I have been reading, it sounds like pcloud seems like the best bet. Ice drive seems pretty new to the market.

  3. It is important to find a reliable with high integrity company for your data and photo. I bought a life time Degoo 10TB plan and after a year they just stripped my life time subscribed 10TB. Their message said their bot detected I have some files that I need to prove I actually paid to own it. Hence they can just find a hard for you to proof excuse to steal your money. I wrote many message and email and they never replied.

Thanks for your review, I now use pCloud.

    1. Yep, me too.
Paid, regretably, for lifetime 1 TB.
I guess, to Degoo, ‘lifetime’ means, ‘until we decide your life is over’.
AVOID DEGOO. Best advice I can give.

    2. Me to, they said they had detected I had uploaded music illegally, it was all bought and paid for, I then received a message to state they agreed with me, a week later my 10TB account had disappeared and I was back to a useless free account. Thank goodness I was using this as a secondary backup, otherwise I would be weeping. Don’t touch Degoo with a barge pole.

    3. Hi, Same happened here too.10TB Degoo subscription stopped without any proper reason after 8 months. I have sent a mail to their support, but no response. One of the fraud cloud storage is Degoo. If you check the play store, lot of comments the same as cheating.

  4. Mike Blackburn

Hi Dejan. Very informative, though I think you’ve only reviewed based on the idea of backup. As a shared active drive you need a lot more bandwidth than storage, and icedrive, for instance, only allow up to 40% more bandwidth than storage. This could easily be eaten into and surpassed on a monthly basis with multiple shares.

    1. Hello Mike!

Thanks, I do appreciate it. The strict idea of “backup” wasn’t in my mind when conducting this research since none of these providers focus on that but I get what you’re trying to say. But yes, bandwidth is something to consider when getting into any cloud storage. Do some calculation and approximate how much sharing you plan to do and how big the files will be. I do believe you get more than enough bandwidth for the average user with Icedrive though that depends on your needs.

      Dejan

  5. Hiya Dejan

I have recently started thinking more about storage as I am taking a lot more photos than I ever have before so my need for storage is increasing, also my devices keep telling me I need to upgrade!

I am not very ‘techie’ so I need a lot of help to get to the right place with things like storage, simple clear explanations make that process a lot easier for me – I didn’t know you could pay one time for lifetime cloud storage that’s amazing and there’s nothing I love more than a bargain. 2 Terabytes sounds enough but if it’s not I’ll just get more.

Can you buy two lots so that you’ve got 4 Terabytes that run one after the other so that when one finishes the other starts or is that not how it works?  Sorry if that’s a dumb question, I’m really not clued up enough about this stuff, although I do know a bit more now having read your article so thanks for that,  I look forward to your reply, krs PurpleLioness

    1. Dejan Miladinovi? Administrator

      Hey!

It’s not possible to buy 2 lifetime plans with the same account but there’s absolutely nothing stopping you from creating 2 accounts and having a lifetime plan on both.

      Dejan

      1. Can you install 2 instances of any of these on the same computer?

eg, DropBox forums say there are work arounds but DB officially says you can’t install 2 DropBox on one computer.

  6. Hello Dejan,

Yes, You are right public cloud storage is without a doubt on the rise and it doesn’t seem like the trend will stop. Now I know various public cloud storage providers such as Dropbox, pCloud and Sync increased their previous storage capacities from 1000 GB to 2000 GB or 3000 GB. and price also moved up with some of them as I noticed.

I started finding the alternative and found the best one here – pCloud and IceDrive both are awesome.

It’s my pleasure to find your post. It is very useful for me.

    Thank you

    Parveen

  7. Hello Dejan, thank you for sharing these best lifetime cloud storage plans. I am planning to create a music website and I’d love the music to be downloaded directly from my website. I have been pondering where to look for cloud storage. If I am privileged to buy services and software online and there are life plans, I prefer to go for it because it saves plenty of money. I’ll consider one of these cloud storage providers.

    I celebrate you!

  8. Q.1 Do they have a currency converter on their site to check the prices in other currencies?

Q.2 How are they going to adjust pCloud Christmas deal offer for the customers who had already got the regular deal?

Q.3 What does a Slovenian cloud mean and what does it offer?

Q.4 What are the additional features of Koofr?

    1. Dejan Miladinović Administrator

      1. The plans will show in your local currency with the cloud storage provider if available. Otherwise, they will be shown in USD or EUR in most cases.

      2. No adjustments will be made there. This is a temporary offer from pCloud.

3&4. Koofr is based in Slovenia. To read more about it and the additional features check my Koofr Review.

  9. Wow! This is an interesting article. I have thought about looking into lifetime cloud storage but really hadn’t done much. Your article has not only reviewed a number of providers and offered informed opinions, but it has also let me know what I should be asking when I look at lifetime cloud storage providers. My question is about the same as I have when someone tells me about a lifetime guarantee on a product. What happens if the company supporting the guarantee or offering the cloud storage closes. The fees certainly are reasonable so the financial loss wouldn’t be too significant. My question is what happens to the data that is stored on a lifetime cloud service that closes?  Can it be retrieved? You have given me a great deal to think about. Great article.

    1. Dejan Miladinović Administrator

      Hey!

If the cloud storage company closes you will, of course, stop getting all services from them. But there are multiple stages to this process. Let’s for example look at a cloud storage like HubiC who has shut doors to all new registrations. That’s the first step of closing down a cloud storage. You won’t lose all your data on a whim, I am certain you will have months to retrieve your data and download it to your local storage in case something bad happens. But you don’t need to worry about that with any of the cloud storage providers I recommend for at least the next years.

      Dejan

  10. Some of my students use cloud storage for their class presentations and online homework. I’m still getting used to it, but those storages look great! I have not heard of Koofr before, but you say you recommend it. It has been around for a while, hasn’t it? I like the lifetime plans in the other storages, those plans are not that expensive if it’s for life, but one has to be sure before making such an investment. Articles like yours really help to choose the right storage platform.

    1. Dejan Miladinović Administrator

      Hello Christine,

Koofr has indeed been around for quite a while but is more known in the business world. They have recently made a switch to offer personal plans as well.

      Dejan

  11. Why would someone need cloud storage? Most people who have a website have hosting, and all their data is stored at the hosting site.

How safe are these companies from hackers?

    1. Dejan Miladinović Administrator

Well, most people don’t have a website… And those that do will find many uses in cloud storage as well such as collaboration on files, sharing capabilities, file retrieving systems…

Check my article How secure is cloud storage to find the answer to your second question.

  12. This is a really useful and interesting read because we are currently using Dropbox and are not at all happy about the recent price rises. We’d already shortlisted IceDrive because it offers a lot of good features and, like us, it’s based in the UK so we’re hopeful that it will have all the right compliances in place. This review has added strength to that idea so thanks very much for sharing.

  13. Great information here. Very interesting and compelling. I would tend to agree… Cloud storage is only going to increase as the years go by. It’s inevitable.

My biggest concern would be how well my information is protected so security and privacy would be at the top of the list in importance followed by great support should something go wrong.

I’m not that knowledgeable about cloud storage so I guess my question would be… Is the pCloud, at 500 Euros a one-time payment or is it per month (which would seem kind of expensive), and is it limited to 2TB of storage per month or is 2TB all you get forever, which wouldn’t be much for 5 people to share?

My personal memory banks are sparse when it comes to knowledge about this service but I know more now that I have read this post so thanks,

    Wayne

    1. Dejan Miladinović Administrator

The 500eur offer is the Family plan. It’s a one-time payment and will last for a lifetime (no more payments). It is limited to 2TB of storage that you can divide between 5 family members. This is the total storage you get. Keep in mind that this plan is meant to be used by a family, 2 TB of storage seems an adequate amount of space to me, depending on the needs of the family. Younger children don’t use up much space in the first place and all the family photos can be stored within that amount of storage.

If this plan was for 5 people that are part of different families then yes, I would agree that 2 TB of storage is not enough.

      Dejan

  14. Wow, very good info. This is the first time I heard of the lifetime cloud storage option. This is a very intellectual thing for the cloud-based storage platforms to do. It certainly makes them quite a few bucks. I feel like this has some very good potential but it will be slightly expensive for me to join as seen here. I think that pCloud has the best option for one here and I see that it is listed at the top too. That is very nice. I would like to save up for that. If along the line, I fill up all the space, is there a way to increase it, will I still pay for the increment?

    1. Dejan Miladinović Administrator

      Hello John,

2 TB of cloud storage is the most pCloud offers right now. As such you won’t be able to increase that limit if you hit the 2 TB mark. A few years down the line that might change though. Maybe they’ll increase their plans but yes I would assume you would have to pay for the increment at that point.

      Dejan

  15. Hello Dejan, you are very right that over the years, people are beginning to look to cloud storage spaces to keep their very important stuff. I am very happy that you could go on to explain how all this works. This is, in fact, a very good post. I feel like pCloud is the best of all your picks. One thing I would want to know is how will these companies improve over the years because the demand for space will keep increasing. For example, about ten years ago, people did not need up to a terabyte for storing stuff but today, people find that this space is not enough.

    1. Dejan Miladinović Administrator

With the increase of cloud storage providers and advances in technology, it isn’t hard to imagine larger capacities 10 years down the road. It’s also important to note that the demand sets the market. Files will get bigger and bigger and so will the need for larger cloud storage. It might get more expensive but it will certainly match whatever the users and the market needs.

      Dejan

  16. The use of cloud storage has evolved with great enthusiasm and welcomed all around. In fact, the rate at which people use it now is alarming and serious. Hence, it is only paramount that we also switch to it. But having a lifetime plan can only make it better because it presents a much better offer than just the normal subscriptions. Having a one time paid sub would ve great. Thanks for sharing the tips too
